Wild and Organic Civet Coffee, Weasel Coffee, Kopi Luwak, Kape Musang, Kape Alamid

Had anyone heard about Civet Coffee? In the Philippines we call it Kape Alamid or Kape Musang. In Indonesia they call it Kopi Luwak.

Well, I'm posting this article to provide some information about this one of a kind coffee.

Civet Coffee is the most rare and expensive coffee in the world.

Traditionally, coffee trees are planted by farmers to produce a coffee drink.

It was in the late 1980's when Indonesian farmers started wondering why they have decreasing harvest during the peak seasons. Eager to find out the mystery behind it, they started conducting nightly security to coffee farms until they found out its the civets eating the ripe beans.

Due to poor productivity, one day, a local farmer in Indonesia tried to pick up pieces of the remains of the civets and cleaned it properly. Dried the beans under the heat of the sun and processed it like an ordinary coffee. This became their practice everyday until they discover that the coffee can eliminate certain diseases like prostate cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure.

The coffees were brought to the public at a minimal cost initially until no stocks became available for coffee lovers. After experiencing the many benefits of civet coffee, rich families and coffee shops started looking for it.

Since then, Civet coffee became in demand and expensive due to its difficult production process.

So what makes it so expensive? I myself is a coffee lover so I tried tasting our own brand, Shanica Civet Coffee. What I have distinguished is its different aroma. The flavor is so rich and complex and it washes away the toxins in our body. In fact, I used it as a slimming coffee at home.

Shanica Civet Coffee is one of the biggest supplier of civet coffee here in the Philippines. Their monthly yield is 800 to 1000 kilograms per month with the help of the Asian Palm Civets that are caged and wild. Their two years of experience in civet coffee making hasten their knowledge to bring out the different taste of the world.

Their products are exported to countries like Hongkong, China, Korea, Germany, Japan, USA, Canada, and Singapore through international traders in the Philippines.
