Pigcawayan receives 2 birthing facilities



Cotabato Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño-Mendoza turned-over 2 birthing facilities to the Municipality of Pigcawayan, Cotabato on June 08, 2012 as incentives for actively supporting the programs of the provincial government of Cotabato.

Barangays Poblacion and Kimarayag were the proud recipients of the birthing facility which will help ensure the safety of pregnant women and also during their delivery.

In her message, Governor Taliño-Mendoza said that “the reason why we are here and why we are providing you with such facility is because of the support you have given us, and now it is time for us to give back what we have promised you.”

She stressed that through the said birthing facility, the women can now use it for their pre-natal check so that their health conditions during pregnancy are properly monitored. She also explained that the provincial government targets to decrease the fetal and maternal mortality rate with the help of the said facility.

With the governor during the turn-over were Pigcawayan Municipal Mayor Roberto S. Blase, Board Members Eliseo D. Garcesa, Jr., Celestino R. Rapacon, Shirlyn D.  Macasarte, and the personnel from the Provincial Engineering Office and the Integrated Provincial Health Office.

Board Member Macasarte, a licensed nurse, also advised all the mothers and pregnant women to undergo regular check up during pregnancy. She also encouraged the residents to help each other in taking care of the facility so that more and more people could benefit from it.

The healthcare centre will serve as a labor room in a home-like environment which will be staffed by a nurse, midwife and obstetrician to address the concerns of pregnant mothers in the barangay.

Mayor Blasé and the Chairmen of of the recipient barangays expressed their gratitude to the Governor and the Sanguniang Panlalawigan officials for the projects and the provincial employees for the successful turn-over activity. They promised to continue supporting the programs of the present administration and adhere with its “Serbisyong Totoo” program of governance.

The birthing facility at Poblacion, Pigcawayan is an upgrade from Barangay Health Station amounting to PhP913, 041.46 while the birthing facility at Kimarayag is an upgrade from Rural Health Unit amounting to PhP 913,970.17.

In the same turn-over program, medicines, slippers and caps were distributed in the 2 barangays. sgjh
